I read and reviewed three books:
- The Crossover by Kwame Alexander–novel-in-verse about basketball, mostly, but also family and growing up. It’s not exactly my cuppa, but your mileage may vary, and it is well-written, of course.
- El Deafo by Cece Bell–An autobiographical graphic novel (a.k.a. comic book)–yes! I loved it, and so did 10 year old Louise.
- Last Stop on Market Street by Matt De La Peña, illustrated by Christopher Robinson –such a sweet picture book!
This was definitely the month for mixing up the Newbery genres! I’m glad I read each one of these, and they’re all so unique, I couldn’t even begin to pick an absolute favorite of the month.
Did you read something you loved this month? Something you didn’t love? I’d love to hear all about it!
Not only are we wrapping up this month’s challenge, we’re also wrapping up the challenge with this month’s books. Be sure to come back tomorrow when I share my thoughts about this year’s challenge.
