I almost skipped Nightstand this month since my reading record since last month’s post is absolutely pitiful. I actually haven’t reviewed a single book this month that I read for my own enjoyment. Not one. I did read, though–I finished Pride and Prejudice, which I read for my IRL bookclub that met at the beginning of the month. As always, I enjoyed revisiting this beloved gem. Although I didn’t write up a review or share many of my thoughts, I did share a quote I appreciated and note how my view of some of the characters has changed as I’ve gotten older. Since finishing Pride and Prejudice, I’ve been reading a middle grade novel, Anna Was Here by Jane Kurtz. I’m very close to finishing it. Look for a review of it this Friday.
For March, one book is looming large on the horizon for me: Gone with the Wind. This is my next bookclub pick, and I’ve really got to get a move on to be finish this tome by the second week of April! If I manage to read anything else, I hope I’ll settle into one of the two nonfiction picks I’ve been toting around for a while: Deconstructing Penguins by Lawrence and Nancy Goldstone and/or Pursue the Intentional Life by Jean Fleming.
My reading time has just hit an all-time low. A couple of my children are having some sleep issues, so I feel like I’m burning the candle at both ends these days. This time of year I also turn my attention to making school plans for the next year, so a lot of my free time has been taken up by perusing the Well-Trained Mind forums. I hope that this coming month is better than the one we’re closing out.
Of course, I am still reading to my children. Come back this Thursday for February’s Read Aloud Thursday to link up your own posts and find out what others are reading!
