Steady Eddie and I spent a bit of time enjoying this quaint and interesting little museum/gift shop in downtown Huntsville on our anniversary. Harrison Brothers Hardware was opened at another location in 1897, and with the last brother’s death in 1983 (he was actually the son of one of the first owners), the store had not been updated with modern technology really since its beginning. The Historic Huntsville Foundation took it over and has kept it in its original state, with the exception of the addition of lots and lots of gift store novelties, many of which are made by Alabama artisans. It’s a free attraction that would make a great northwest Alabama field trip. We definitely intend to go back with the whole family!
