  1. I always love reading through your book suggestions. Thanks for sharing this at Trivium Tuesdays! We don’t get through our chapter books as quickly as I’d like (reading aloud for longer each day is something on my list of things to work on this next year =) so I don’t have many posts to link up to your Read Aloud Thursday, but I’ll link them as I can!

  2. good books! I forgot about My Fathers Dragon b/c I only read it to my son when he was young. Everyone in my family listed Little Britches as one of their Top 10

  3. YES! I think children DO appreciate complicated stories. They find them fun and adventurous and challenging! I’ve been surprised by people mentioning that they are taken aback that we’re reading The Hobbit aloud at the moment but Bookworm1 is LOVING it and it familiarizes him with a good story. *I* also am interested in it. It’s a fun read! And lovely to share together.

Thanks for hosting Read Aloud Thursday so faithfully!

  4. I’m super excited to see this list because many I haven’t read yet! I never read the Laura Ingalls’ series {blush} and I’m praying my oldest daughter relents and allows me to add them to our book list. I agree, I adored the C.S. Lewis series, especially “The Magician’s Nephew” and “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”. I’m saving your permalink to my books folder 🙂

  5. Great post! I so agree with all you said (and your book choices). I also asked my daughter her favorites. I said some similar things in my blog post, but I promise I didn’t read yours until AFTER I posted mine! =0)
