I am so excited about once again diving into the world of L.M. Montgomery with Carrie and all the other L.M. Montgomery fans who are participating in Carrie’s L.M. Montgomery Reading Challenge this year! This is my third year to participate, and each year I find it such a good way to begin the new year–spending time with one of my favorite authors and the unforgettable characters she created!
This year, I am a little undecided about what I’m going to read. I picked up Chronicles of AvonleaSunday and took it with me when we went to visit out-of-town relatives since I was nearing the end of the book I was reading at the time. (I try to keep a book with me all the time–little pockets of reading time often materialize, like when I’m nursing the DLM, or even when I’m driving alone and I find myself stopped in traffic, etc.) I’m not fully committed to Chronicles of Avonlea
yet; it’s a short story collection, and I’m just not terribly fond of short stories. I’ve already read the first story in the volume, though, and I did enjoy it, so we’ll see what happens. Other than that, I’m just not sure. For some reason, I keep avoiding Anne–I think because it’s a long-ish series, and I don’t want to feel obligated to read the whole thing now. (I know I don’t have to read anything, but I can be a little obsessive about things at times. 😉 ) I adore the Emily stories, but I’m the most familiar with them (even compared to Anne, I think) because I wrote a paper about them not too terribly long ago the third time I went to college. I’m just going to pick up whatever appeals to me at the moment and go with it. How does that sound?
I thought I’d corral all my LMM-related links here in this post, just in case anyone is interested in perusing my previous reviews or reading anything else I’ve said about LMM, Anne, or PEI in the past:
PEI Reminscences, a post in which I share pictures and memories of mine and Steady Eddie’s honeymoon on the Island
I have a few ideas for other LMM-related posts for the month, if I can manage to write them. LMM and I go way back!
Oh, I am glad that you posted your past thoughts. That’s awesome.
Of course, I’m glad you are playing with me again. =D
I’ll look forward to seeing what you end up picking up and talking about this month!
I am not surprised you are playing along. I look forward to your thoughts on whatever you choose! Looking forward to some LMM fun with you!
